CHILDREN have helped to choose the new illustrator-in-residence at The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre.
Paula Metcalf was among the candidates who appeared before youngsters for the post at the centre in High Street, Great Missenden.
Pupils aged seven to 11 were asked to give their thoughts on activities brought to the interview by candidates.
Whether they brought pictures to life was a key aspect of candidates' performance, said the Arts Council, which has funded the post.
Pupils will get a chance to meet the new member of staff at workshops next Thursday and Friday at 1.30pm and 3pm.
Paula, who has a book deal with Macmillan, took a masters in illustration at Cambridge University.
Keiran Phelan, literature officer at Arts Council England South East, said: "A criteria of giving funding to this project was that it featured young people being involved in the selection process of recruiting an illustrator.
"I am delighted by their decision to appoint Paula and wish her every success with the job."
