A STUDENT from High Wycombe is celebrating after being accepted onto the only course in the world that studies lingerie and swimwear design.
Jessica Morris, 17, has realised a dream after becoming one of just 28 lucky students to get onto the Fashion Contour course at Leicester University.
She impressed staff at the university so much she was offered a place on the course almost immediately.
"I found the course in the prospectus and I fell in love with it straight away," she said. "It was the only place I wanted to go to.
"I had the interview and got a call back two days after to say I'd been accepted.
"They said usually it's two weeks before they get back."
The Sir William Ramsay School pupil has been producing her own designs at home since the age of 13 - inspired by designers like Vivienne Westwood.
"I always wanted to go down the fashion route, but everyone does the same thing," she said.
"I am into fashion, I think you have to be into it to do the course I'm doing.
"It's quite hard to do research into new designs and I've been looking at people who design stuff for celebrities, just looking at new patterns to use.
"I have been making bras and stuff at home and doing this is just something I've always wanted."
With just 28 students in the world being invited onto the course, Jessica could not hide her delight at being accepted.
"By the time I found out about the course I started focusing all my Year 13 work onto it and that helped me get onto it," she said. "It's the only course in the world and I'm very proud to get on it. It still hasn't really sunk in yet."
During the course, Jessica will have the opportunity to learn about pattern cutting, lingerie design, sportswear, bra construction, corsetry and technical design illustration.
At the moment she is busy working towards A-Levels in Art and Design, Art Textiles and Theatre Design.
Annie Hearne, the school's arts coordinator, said: "We are very proud of Jess.
"She had been focusing all her A/S studies around lingerie and has some stunning pieces.
"She deserves the place and I am confident she will become one of the leading contemporary lingerie designers of the future."
