A NEW entrance building at Doctor Challoner's Grammar School was officially opened by a former pupil this morning.
Professor Dame Sandra Dawson DBE - who was a student there before the Girls' High School was opened in 1962 - returned to cut the ribbon on the brand new Dawson Building.
She was joined at the opening ceremony by around 100 guests, including past headteachers and classmates.
Prof Dawson has gone on to become KPMG Professorship of Management Studies at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge and Master of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
The new entrance building was completed in January and provides much-needed additional office space and improved pupil medical facilities.
Headmaster Dr Mark Fenton said: "As a result of the ongoing success of Dr Challoner's, we had a need to provide a focal entry point for the school which would not only consolidate our site security, but give us an iconic building to greet visitors to our school.
"This has undoubtedly been achieved, and the school has a building to be proud of."
