RESIDENTS have been have been urged to book ahead to attend a "question time" style debate on controversial incinerator plans.

Radio 5 Live journalist Susan Bookbinder will invite questions to Buckinghamshire County Council officers and councillors at the meeting in Beaconsfield.

The council is expecting such a demand for places that it will only let people in who have reserved a place - and are limiting this to two people per household.

The meeting will be part of another consultation on how the council deals with waste - including incinerators - to run from February 29 to April 25.

The findings from the last consultation, on its "Waste Development Plan" last summer, were supposed to be handed to the Government in 2007.

But the massive response - more than 15,000 - meant the plans will be consulted on again as part of its "Minerals and Waste Core Strategy".

One of four sites will house the incinerator in the county. Two are in South Bucks, at Wapseys Wood, Gerrards Cross and Springfield Farm, Beaconsfield.

Councillor Martin Tett, council cabinet member for strategic planning, said: "We know that many people have questions about our strategy and approach, and these sessions give us the opportunity to provide the answers."

Two meetings will be held in the 300-capacity Beaconsfield on March 19 at the Curzon Centre, Maxwell Road at 4.15pm and 7.15pm.

These will last two-and-a-half hours. To book a place, from Wednesday at 9am, call 01296 383207.
