AEROPLANES will fill south Bucks skies and roads will face extra congestion if plans for a third runway at Heathrow Airport are approved, councillors fear.
Air traffic will increase dramatically over the town if the world's busiest airport expands, Beaconsfield Town Council's planning committee heard tonight.
Cllr Alan Walters said: "I think it's going to have an adverse effect on the people of Beaconsfield.
"The A355 is already congested and that's where people are going to come through Beaconsfield to Heathrow.
"Firstly there's the transport. Secondly there's the congestion and thirdly there's the over flying. Beaconsfield and Chilterns' skies will be completely covered with air flow."
"The district council are strongly objecting to it and I think we should do the same thing."
The debate followed feedback from a visit to an exhibition on the plans by Councillors Henry Wilson and Frank Armstrong.
The council agreed it would write a letter of objection to the plans.
A consultation period is ongoing until February 27. For more information visit the Department of Transport's website at www.dft.gov.uk.
