Transport for Bucks has issued an update on the melting A4010 today amid record-breaking heat.
Transport for Bucks (TfB) has been at the scene today to 'dust' the carriageway to help soak up the bitumen, which they say appears to be helping.
According to West Wycombe Parish Council, they said: "As you are aware the A4010 Bradenham Road is suffering in the heat, and is melting in the area of the pedestrian cross over that was built a couple of years ago.
"To update you on how the road is being managed, we have done multiple runs (four so far) to apply dust to the carriageway to help soak up the bitumen. 20g to 15g per run with additional spot blasting on the worst area. The dust appears to be starting to help improve the conditions.
"We are also looking to place ‘Failed Road’ signs out in addition to the slippery road signs.
"The road will continue to be closely monitored, and preparations have been made in case a diversion route is required – although we have no plans for this currently.
"Hopefully the road will cool overnight, and then as the temperature surface returns to a more normal temperature we will look to programme and carry out remedial surfacing works to the carriageway."
