Teachers, pupils and parents are celebrating after years of hard work to turn around a village school.
Wooburn Green Primary School, which used to be The Meadows, has been rated 'good' in a recent Ofsted inspection.
It is amazing news for the community, who have worked hard to improve the school's reputation.
The former Meadows School transformed to become Wooburn Green Primary School after being placed in special measures following a “difficult period” in 2017.
During their 2017 visit, Ofsted inspectors noted that the school had suffered “significant instability” in the teaching and leadership team since it was last inspected in July 2014.
Giving the school a chance at a fresh start after the "disappointing" inspection, they joined the Great Learners Multi-Academy Trust in 2018, which saw the uniform redesigned, the buildings brought to life with inspiring artwork by local artist Dan Wilson and a package of other major improvements.
And the hard work has paid off - because after their visit in May this year, inspectors now say Wooburn Green Primary School is a good school.
Head teacher Jo Moore was thrilled with the news. She said: "I can honestly say that it was the highlight of my career to hear the words ‘Wooburn Green Primary School is officially a good school’.
"I know how important this judgement is for the local community, for the children and for the future children who join our school.
"The staff truly care about the children here, and as practitioners, they continue to develop and improve their practice to ensure they provide an excellent learning experience for the children."
Inspectors noted in May that there is a "close-knit community" at the school, praised pupils for working hard, said the curriculum is broad and that pupils feel "protected".
They wrote: "The Trust has supported senior leaders to create an ambitious curriculum and has well-trained teachers to put this into practice.
"The head teacher leads her team with passion and sheer determination.
"Staff and parents are complimentary about the Wooburn Green experience."
Rozalyn Thomson, CEO of the Great Learners Trust, remembers her first visit to the school back in 2017, a tumultuous time.
She said: “It has transformed – it is such a delight to see this vibrant, ambitious school which offers so much to the children.
"Trips, forest school, unforgettable experiences, but also high academic expectations. The school’s recent SATs results are exceptional – well above national averages. We genuinely have a dream team at Wooburn Green.”
