POLICE have pledged to crack down on South Bucks' parks and streets most hit by underage boozing - and the Bucks Free Press wants to hear where you want officers to look.

Thames Valley Police today said officers will be targeting "drinking hotspots" as part of a national Home Office campaign.

The police said the increased patrols - as part of a national campaign - will see officers confiscate booze.

The patrols will be stepped up from tomorrow until February 24.

Inspector John Fox, alcohol and violent crime co-ordinator for the force said: "We will be confiscating alcohol from under 18s and hope to send a clear message that this is illegal and unacceptable.

"Under 18s put themselves at risk by getting drunk and losing control.

"We know from anecdotal evidence that some young people who get drunk go on to become either a victim of crime or an offender causing vandalism or committing anti-social behaviour."

Professor John Newton, regional director of public health for NHS South Central, said: "Underage drinking is a real concern for the NHS. The damage that drinking causes at such a young age is a tragedy and can be easily underestimated by the young people concerned."
