A High Wycombe primary school is celebrating after finally being able to open their new sensory garden after "four years of blood, sweat and tears".
King's Wood Primary School, in Hollis Road, invited dignitaries including councillors, Bucks Council leader Martin Tett and High Wycombe mayor Arif Hussain to help them celebrate the opening of the "wonderful" new sensory garden and outdoor classroom.
Cllr Hussain cut the ribbon on the new garden, which is filled with beautiful plants, a bug hotel, a mini wooden well and some comfy seating, on June 24.
Family Liaision Manager at the school, Erika Searle, said the day was a "huge success".
She said: "As part of the celebrations we had 'Splat the Teacher' which proved to be very popular with the children. Councillor Julia Wassell decided to get in on the action and managed quite a few soakings from the children and her colleague Cllr Imran Hussain.
"The day was a huge success with the children showing off all the beautiful plants and the Chair of the PTA Nadia Rashid explaining all the hard work the parents, staff and children had put in to make this happen.
"It was all worth it when you see the finished product. We have to say a huge thank you to Tesco and Morrison whose community funding made this project possible.
"We also had lots of contributions from local business which again are very grateful and appreciated all the donations.
"This was truly a community project which is now open to staff, children and parents as well as local community groups."
