A crash involving two lorries on the M40 into London caused major tailbacks for drivers this morning.
The crash, which happened on the eastbound M40 carriageway just after the M25 interchange at junction 1a and close to the Swakeleys Roundabout, caused miles of queues during rush hour.
Traffic was only able to pass the scene via one lane, causing long delays as police put cones out around the crash while the vehicles were recovered from the middle of the road.
An oil spill also meant sand had to be put down on the road surface.
National Highways warned the crash, which appeared to involve a tanker and a lorry, was going to cause delays and urged drivers to plan around it.
