An "embarrassed" drink driver who crashed into oncoming traffic on a major road has been banned from driving for two years.
Joanne Lambert, aged 59, of Glen Island, Taplow, was also ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work after she admitted to drink driving on the A4 Bath Road in Taplow on June 21.
The court heard how Lambert enjoyed "a few glasses of wine" before she crashed her Skoda CityGo into oncoming traffic.
Fortunately, no one was harmed in the crash. The court heard how the driver was in a near miss seconds before crashing into another vehicle.
Reading from a police statement on the incident, prosecutor Scott Forman said: "The defendant was driving on the wrong side of the road.
"A collision nearly occurred before hitting her off-side on the vehicle."
Lambert's defence solicitor told the court that her client denied driving on the wrong side of the road, but accepted that she was over the drink drive limit.
She said: "She had a few glasses of wine, she accepts that she was drinking.
"She doesn't accept that she was driving on the wrong side of the road, she was turning right at the traffic lights.
"She is incredibly embarrassed by this."
The court heard that Lambert gave a breath test reading of 104 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood after the crash. The legal limit is 35 micrograms, meaning she was nearly three times the limit.
After Lambert pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving, Judge Arvind Sharma said: "You are a mature person who knows better, there is no point in giving you an order for rehabilitation activities.
"These precautions themselves are enough of a reminder."
Lambert was given a 24-month driving ban and must carry out 160 hours of unpaid work within a year.
She was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £114 surcharge.
