A LOFT conversion caught fire in a house in Micklefield this afternoon.

The two-storey property in Baring Road caught light just after 1pm.

Fire crews from High Wycombe and Beaconsfield arrived at 1.42pm and battled the blaze for almost two hours.

An appliance with a turntable ladder attended but it was not needed in the end and the fire crews were able to reach the blaze because the home had a stair case to the loft.

The roof of the semi-detached building suffered 30 per cent damage but the cause of the fire is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

A man suffered burns to his arm and also felt the effects of breathing in smoke.
