A TV personality helped raise £2,500 for a Stoke Mandeville charity after winning an episode of Celebrity Pointless.
Bobby Seagull, a mathematics teacher who is best known for his appearances on University Challenge, won the money for Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research, whilst his teammate, actress Verona Rose, donated her winnings to the British Thyroid Foundation.

Explaining to host Alexander Armstrong on why he chose the Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research charity, the 38-year-old said: “Stoke Mandeville Hospital has supported my brother from a young age.
“He was involved in a car accident when he was two or three.

“He is 41 now but they have looked after him his entire life so a massive thank you to them.”
After reaching the final with relative ease, the duo picked Euro 2020 as their topic before they were given three sub-topics.
The three sub-topics were:
• Managers of national teams at Euro 2020
• Players who scored two or more goals at Euro 2020
• Players who received at least two yellow cards or a red card at Euro 2020
The team decided to pick the Spanish manager of Luis Enrique, the tournament’s joint top-scorer in Patrik Schick from the Czech Republic, and Italy’s Federico Chiesa as their suggestions, with the duo needing just one pointless answer from the three that they had chosen to win the money.

They were successful at the first go as they discovered that despite scoring five goals at Euro 2020, not one of the 100 people who took part in the survey named the Czech striker, making him a pointless answer.
Seagull, who is an avid West Ham United fan, revealed in a Facebook post that his brother, Davey Jose, is an ambassador for the charity.
Stoke Mandeville Hospital’s National Spinal Injuries Centre is one of the largest spinal units in the world, with the village being the birthplace of the first-ever paralympic games in 1948.
