THOUSANDS of nominations were sent to MONOPOLY bosses to vote for the High Wycombe charity spot, and now one Bucks charity has been revealed.

The Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will be featured on the upcoming MONOPOLY board after more than 5,000 nominations poured in from Wycombe residents.

The Wycombe-based charity, which providers professionally trained hearings dogs for deaf people, won the public vote for one of the board’s three ‘Community Chest’ spaces.

"At Hearing Dogs for Deaf People we want to see a time when no deaf person in the UK feels alone," said David Robson, spokesperson for the charity.

"We're delighted to have made it onto the board. Our dogs are life-changing - and we are very excited at this opportunity to raise more awareness for our charity.

"High Wycombe residents have always been extremely supportive of our work and we are thrilled this has been recognised further with the result of this vote.

The nationally known dog charity’s nomination was apt, since one of the famous mascots of the game is a dog, the Scottie Dog, invented in 1935.

Their mission is to help deaf people tackle loneliness by connecting them with a hearing dog as their companion – and more than 2,500 such partnerships have been created since the charity was founded 40 years ago in 1982.

While Hearing Dogs won the charity vote, the other public votes for landmark locations reached around “double” that number, said Afolabi Omotola, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, the makers of the MONOPOLY game.

“A huge congratulations to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People who topped our charity poll.

“The game will be out later this year in time for this Christmas. The other charities featuring in the game will be revealed then.”

In February, the game bosses announced that Wycombe would get its own MONOPOLY – joining string of cities around the world from Dubai to Dublin and Palm Springs to Sydney with their own official version of the game.
