Buses clogging up a busy village A-road could soon be a thing of the past - as a new lay-by outside a train station could be created.
A once-popular cafe close to Bourne End Railway Station had to be demolished after someone crashed into it and destroyed it back in December 2019, leaving more space for parking - but this could soon become a bus lay-by.
Wooburn and Bourne End Parish Council is planning to apply for cash from Great Western Railway for the project after long-term discussions had not not come to a conclusion.
Creating a bus lay-by would stop the traffic building up on the A4094/A4155 Station Road, Cllr Tim Bingham said.
The council is looking for £10,000 to pay for a feasibility study to determine how best to lay out the lay-by using the land at the front of the car park.
They said: "We are seeking GWR support to utilise the front part of the station car park, which formerly houses a cafe which had to be demolished, as a bus lay-by.
"Currently buses wait to link up with the train, backing up traffic on the A4094."
The council can match-fund the donation and said it will liaise with the highways department at Buckinghamshire Council for all the necessary permissions.
