There are pleas to lower the speed limit to 20mph on a well-used village road that is popular with dog-walkers.
A petition has been launched to slash the speed limit to 20mph on Church Lane in Weston Turville amid fears there could be a serious accident.
The road is well used by walkers and dog-walkers, but in some parts there are no footpaths and the street itself narrows, meaning people often have to walk in the road or on the grass verges.
The petition, which was launched on Tuesday, June 14, urges the council to cut the speed limit on the road, which is often used as a "rat run" for drivers coming off the A41 and from Aston Clinton to the Wendover road.
It says: "The road is recognised as a walkers and dog walkers haven, the parish council also recognises the importance of the area by providing poo bins at the corner of Bates Lane and the junction at Worlds End Lane.
"My concern is the area from Bates Lane to Worlds End Lane and I propose a 20mph speed limit with signage, plus signage identifying walkers in the road.
"The lane has a major junction leading on to School Lane with Church Walk leading to the church and a large farm and a large allotment area on Church Lane itself.
"It also has a public house at one of the narrowest areas. The road narrows in several places with walkers having to use the verges. In some areas no footpaths are available.
"My reasons for the ePetition is to encourage the authorities to take responsible for our safety on the roads to act."
