A High Wycombe man who stole a forklift truck and used it to destroy part of his father's house must wait to discover his fate.

Graeme Stallwood Jnr, aged 49, of Chairborough Road, was due to be sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday after he was found guilty of damaging property being reckless as to whether life is endangered.

However, due to a delay in proceedings, Stallwood Jnr must now wait until June 30 to discover his fate.

During his trial, the jury heard how on October 23 last year, Stallwood Jnr drunkenly stole a forklift truck and drove it to Studley Green, where his father Graham Stallwood Snr lived.

Arriving at the house in Wycombe Road late in the evening, Stallwood Jnr picked up his father's black Nissan Navara pickup truck.

Prosecutor Adam Williams told the court how Stallwood Jnur used the truck as a "battering ram" on his father's home, smashing it into the house while Mr Stallwod Snr was still inside, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Appearing in court to give evidence, Mr Stallwood Snr claimed he was afraid his son was going to hit him with the improvised siege weapon, and that he feared for his life.

Stallwood Jnr claimed that he had never intended to harm his father during the chaotic episode.

The jury disagreed with this account and found Stallwood Jnr guilty of recklessly endangering life.

Following the unanimous guilty verdict, Stallwood Jnr was warned he could have a lengthy prison sentence.

He has been remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing on June 30.
