Part of a High Wycombe road had to be cordoned off on Tuesday as a flame appeared to come up from underground.
Firefighters say a flame was "issuing from the ground" on Totteridge Avenue near the junction with Sovereign Court just after 9pm on June 7.
A High Wycombe fire crew found a small crack in the road surface after homes in the area suffered a power cut.
The flame that came up from the ground is believed to have been caused by underground cables arcing.
Sovereign Court had to be closed and a five-metre cordon was put in place while engineers came and isolated an electrical fault.
