A High Wycombe restaurant has been named one of the best in the country.
Kappad Restaurant, well known by locals for its excellent South Indian cuisine, has been shortlisted for the South region of the 2022 Food Awards England. The awards, aimed at celebrating the best food in the industry, have run since 2014.
A finalist in the Best World Cuisine category, Kappad is the only restaurant in Buckinghamshire to make the shortlist.
Located in Wycombe High Street, Kappad has become known for its fresh take on classic Indian dishes, and regularly features near the top lists of best restaurants in the area.
In 2019, Bucks Free Press readers even voted it as their favourite Indian restaurant
With plenty of positive reviews online, one happy diner said:"I'm so addicted to the taste of the dishes here.
"Staff are so professional in handling customers. A meal at this peaceful environment will make your day.
Another added: "If you are hungry and craving South Indian or Asian food, go straight to Kappad. Their lunch menu is very reasonable and tasty."
The winners of the 2022 Food Awards will be announced at a large ceremony in Manchester tomorrow (Monday).
A spokesperson for the 2022 Food Awards England said: “Undoubtedly, there are some amazing specialists around the country, who know how to offer great service, delicious food and meet the expectations of their diners.
"These are the professionals that we aim to reward at The Food Awards England 2022.
“We would like to wish all the finalists the best of luck and we can’t wait to welcome all our guests and celebrate the winners with them.”
Other Bucks eateries have also been shortlisted for other categories at the awards.
Moores Fish & Chips is shortlisted for the best Fish N' Chips South, while Woodstock's Artisan Bakery, also in Milton Keynes, is up for selection in the Artisan Bakery of the Year.
One happy reviewer of Moores said "Nice sized piece of crispy cod, chips and a choice of mushy peas, curry sauce or gravy. And it's cooked so lovely and crisp and golden. Well worth a visit.
Meanwhile, a customer at Woodstock's Artisan Bakery said: "Probably one of the best selections of locally produced bread and cakes on any high street."
