A petition has been launched to ‘urgently’ address traffic problems at a junction.
Campaigners want Bucks Council to “examine as a matter of urgency” the Long Bottom Lane and Ledborough Lane junctions on the A355 in Beaconsfield, impacted by “increased traffic” from HS2 and the M40.
The petitioners say crossing the A355 from either side to turn right is difficult and that a new mini roundabout or traffic lights should be considered.

This, they claim, would solve the turning issue because of the “normal rights of way” for such installations.

“We the undersigned petition the council to examine as a matter of urgency the traffic problems on the A355 at Beaconsfield at the Long Bottom Lane and Ledborough Lane junctions, in view of increased traffic on the A355, including HS2 traffic to and from M40, and, in particular, the problems of traffic, including cyclists, wishing to turn right from each junction on to the A355,” they write.
“We ask that the council draws up proposals as to how these problems might be addressed as soon as possible utilising all available resources such as mini-roundabouts or traffic lights, and to take action accordingly.
“Remedial action should be such as to enable traffic from the side lanes to turn into the A355. This is less of a problem for traffic needing to turn left but turning right onto the A355 means having to first wait for sufficient space from either direction to be able to cross over.
“Whereas, for example, this would be addressed by the normal rights of way on a roundabout over left oncoming traffic at the junction, or by traffic lights.
“The problems are worsened by the increased use of the A355 by HS2 traffic from the M40.”
The petition ends June 17.
