EX-SERVICEMEN are being asked to contact a member of the British Legion so they can be honoured as part of Veterans Day.
George O'Leary, branch secretary at the Flackwell Heath branch of the legion, is asking people who served between 1939 and 1994 to contact him if they wish to be honoured as part of Veterans Day, which the branch is coinciding with its celebrations for its 80th anniversary on June 29.
It is not only people in the Flackwell Heath area he wants to hear from, he is also looking for people across the Wycombe district.
Mr O'Leary also wants to contact relatives of the founding members of the Flackwell Heath British Legion, which started in December 1928, so a special framed certificate with the founders names on it can be presented to their families.
The problem the legion has is that its records only go back to 1938 and are missing the first ten years.
Mr O'Leary said: "I believe in history and it is something which I think is very important."
If you are a veteran an wish to receive the Veterans Day badge and certificate, or you are a relative of a founding member of the Flackwell Heath branch of the Royal British Legion, call George O'Leary on 01628 526360.
