A High Wycombe man who got on a train without paying his £15 fare has been ordered to pay more than 17 times that amount by a court.
Gabriel Vranceanu, 21, travelled between High Wycombe and London Marylebone on a Chiltern Railways train without paying for a ticket on December 12, 2021.

But Vranceanu, of Forest Way, was caught - and what would have cost him £15 has turned into £269.

At a court hearing at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 11, Vranceanu, who pleaded guilty to travelling on a railway without paying a fare, was fined £40, and ordered to pay compensation of £15.
Along with costs of £180 and a victim services surcharge of £34, his total to pay is now £269.
