POLICE have today been carrying out searches of five addresses in High Wycombe after claims in a national newspaper that a fake charity is collecting money for Muslim extremists.
The operation has been mounted following allegations made in the News of the World newspaper.
Police confirmed that they were investigating the claims but had reached no conclusions. Thames Valley Police turned up at the houses on Sunday morning.
Marianne Shaw, speaking for Thames Valley Police, said: "Officers are carrying out searches at five addresses in High Wycombe. These searches are linked to an article in today's News of the World.
"Although investigations are ongoing, no conclusions are being drawn from the information in this story or about members of any community."
She added that members of the public concerned about any activity should call the Anti-terrorism hotline on 0800 789 321.
