RESIDENTS gathered together for a meeting today to protest against the building of an eight storey tower block in High Wycombe.
Bucks New University has submitted plans for a new accommodation block which, if passed, will house 936 students on the old Compair site in Hughenden Avenue.
Tony Williams, who lives in Ripley Close, a road which he says will be affected by the development, was present at the gathering today in Gandon Vale.
He said: "There's nothing higher than four floors here at the moment. It's completely out of character with this area.
"The effects on road congestion will be terrible. Hughenden Road is packed as it is in the morning and in the evening.
"It's certainly going to devalue our property."
The plans are scheduled to go before Wycombe District Council's Development Control Committee on February 27.
Mr Williams said he intends to organise a petition to oppose the plans.
