A Chesham musical theatre group marks its big birthday with a production of My Fair Lady.
Chesham Musical Theatre Company has been preparing a production of the classic My Fair Lady show at The Elgiva Theatre in Chesham between May 11 and May 15 at 7.30pm and 2.30 show on the weekend.
The adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion marks the theatre group’s centennial birthday.
Bex Bradburn, honorary secretary of the group, said: "My Fair Lady is such a hugely popular musical and it was important to us that we came back with a bang, not only following our forced hiatus during the pandemic but also to celebrate our very special centenary year with such a big production.

"There are so many people involved both on the stage and behind the scenes that make putting on such a significant show possible.
"And despite the challenges of Covid and absences in order to keep the cast and crew safe, everyone has brought so much enthusiasm and energy to the show."

Chesham Musical Theatre Company was formed in 1922 under the name ‘The Cestreham Singers and Players’ as it performed Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.
Their more modern production of musicals began in 1977 with the performance of Fiddler on the Roof.
Since then, they have performed many shows such as Oklahoma!, Guys and Dolls and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Sadly, the pandemic disrupted their production of 9 to 5: the musical just a week before it was due on stage in March 2020.
Ms Bradburn added: "It will be a very special one indeed after nearly two years of not being able to do what we love, and on behalf of the Company I would like to thank each and every person involved in the production for their commitment and, in anticipation, our audience for your ongoing support."
