A man reportedly defecated in the middle of a well-used High Wycombe path, prompting disgust on social media.
A shocked Bowerdean resident shared their disgust at what their husband reportedly saw in the alleyway in Linchfield, close to Wingate Avenue, on April 25.
While recognising that some people have health conditions or illnesses that mean they have to go to the toilet urgently, the post, on social media site Nextdoor, said there was no excuse for doing it "bang in the middle of the pathway" when there was grass and bushes next to it.
The poster wrote: "Can't believe I'm having to post this. Around 11am today my husband witnessed a man mid-30s foul on the path close to Linchfield Road off Wingate Avenue, yes a grown man not an animal.
"He swears blind it was this man walking in front of him as he disappeared out of sight into the path area and reappeared pulling his trousers up with his behind on full view!
"My husband looked and saw a large deposit in the pathway. Clearly it's never always dogs I tell you! Sick."
While others said the man may have had a chronic illness, the poster responded: "I sympathised until I saw the location. Plenty of bush less than 2 feet away. 2 feet. It would have taken him longer to undo his trousers. Medical conditions I can sympathise with but this is a bit inconsiderate."
Somebody else reported seeing the same man do the same thing around an hour later in Totteridge Road.
Other Nextdoor users branded it "absolutely revolting" and were grateful for the warning.
Others urged her to report the incident because it was a public health issue.
Some were more sympathetic. One person said: "Not nice, but we shouldn't judge. Maybe he has an illness that causes him to get caught with his pants down. Five years ago I was so ill I might have suddenly had to go. A disease that almost killed me."
Another said: "I have a bowel resection due to UC [ulcerative colitis] and need to use toilets urgently. Unfortunately many places often refuse to let people use them in an emergency. Perhaps this happened to this man."
The same alleyway has also had other problems with litter, with one person reporting issues with food waste, cans, drink bottles and takeaway packaging being dumped on the path and the grass bank, encouraging vermin in the area.
