High Wycombe residents were left scratching their heads this morning as a helicopter carrying what appeared to be a huge pole hovered noisily over the town.
People living all across the town stopped to watch the bizarre sight as the white helicopter lowered a long pole in the Castlefield area.

There has been speculation it could be some sort of telecomms mast - and it is believed it could be EE, as there have been reports of "essential maintenance" to one of their masts in Castlefield woods.
The company confirmed it was them doing work there. A spokesman said: “Work is currently being carried out on an EE site in Rowliff Wood, Spearing Road, to swap out a timber pole for a metal one to adhere to health and safety guidelines. This is scheduled maintenance work due to be completed by the evening of Thursday 21st April.”
