Chesham’s The Elgiva Theatre launches its own Summer Musical Youth Project for county’s promising young actors aged seven to 18, and auditions are set for Sunday April 24.
The summer project is a chance for young people to work together for two weeks in August rehearsing for their performance in a professional theatre on August 12 and 13 with a skilled creative team to support them.
This summer the project will produce the smash hit Annie Jr The Musical, including well-known hits “Tomorrow” and “It’s The Hard Knock Life”.
There’s no need to prepare for the free audition at The Elgiva on April 24 at 10am.

Becky Harrison, a professional theatre director and choreographer and the project director, said: “I love working with the younger generation and sharing my knowledge and experience with them, to intern watch them grow in performance and learning new skills.
“Plus, one of the best things about a summer youth project is making new friends that will last for life! Can’t wait to see you all at auditions!"
The project is also looking for young theatre technicians aged 12-18 to work behind the scenes to make the magical show possible.

Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable dog named Sandy.
Key dates for the project are auditions on Sunday April 24, project runs on August 1-13 and show is on August 12 and 13.
