A 15-year-old boxer from Wycombe was crowned the English national champion and will now represent his country in the tri-nations in Barnsley later this year.

Callum Kilmore Walsh, from Wycombe Warriors, won his first boxing national title at Guildford's Spectrum Arena on March 27.

Callum began the journey by beating both Lennon Carter from Bracknell's boxing club ‘The Ring’ and then former national finalist Ashton Duncan from the Thames Valley boxing club to win the Home Counties championships.Bucks Free Press:

After winning the regional title, it earned Callum a spot in the national quarter-finals where he took on and beat the southern area champion Harry Bouthall from Tunbridge Wells.

These three victories gave Callum a semi-final final fight in Guildford where he took on London champion Sami Aouni.

Aouni is a two-time kickboxing world champion and was undefeated coming into the fight.

However, Callum controlled the ring and was given a clear point’s victory and a place in the final.

Here, Callum faced Alfie Briggs Price, the reigning midland champion, and in a tight contest he was given a 4-1 split decision win to crown him the English national champion.

His coach, John MacInnes said: “We are very proud of Callum, after a tough time for the club during covid and the lockdowns he has started off our year with a bang! He’s worked hard and will now box for England in June and that is a real honour and credit to his commitment.

"I’m sure his experience in this tournament will now push him to more major honours in the future for both club and country and it will inspire our next generation of boxers coming through the ranks”
