A secondary school in Wycombe has been named as the winners of a prestigious national contest.
More than 20 students from Wycombe High in the town submitted in their poems following a competition that was organised by the Young Writers’ organisation.
And after the judges were impressed by all the submissions, they confirmed that the school won as a whole.
Wycombe High’s Literacy Lead, Benytta Doman added: “It’s amazing news to win this national poetry competition on the theme of ‘Imagine’.
“The judges said we had 24 entries that were ranked as ‘outstanding’ and because of that we have won first prize as a school.
“We are incredibly proud.
“Our students are so inspirational.
Headteacher Sharon Cromie added: “Congratulations to all our students, from all year groups, who entered.
“It is truly soul-stirring for them to get such prestigious, national recognition and the glass trophy will get pride of place in our new Reception area.”
