Reports of a man entering a restaurant with a weapon prompted armed police to descend on a busy High Wycombe street last week.
Armed police were spotted on Desborough Road, close to the junction with Westbourne Street, on the afternoon of March 10.
Eyewitnesses also reported seeing armed police in Totteridge Road the same evening.

Thames Valley Police have finally confirmed today why armed officers were called to the town.
At around 4.35pm on Thursday, police were called to say a man with a weapon had entered a restaurant following a "disagreement" and made threats to staff inside.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the terrifying incident.
Armed police attended and attempts were also made the locate the man with the weapon, including a search in the Totteridge Road area that same evening.
A Thames Valley Police spokesman added: "An investigation is ongoing and we are asking anyone with information that hasn’t already come forward to please call 101 quoting reference 43220106353. No arrests have been made at this stage."
