Green-fingered pupils helped the mayor of High Wycombe plant three new trees at a park near their school as part of the Queen's 70th Jubilee celebrations.
Cllr Andrea Baughan invited Year 6 children from Loudwater Combined School to help her plant the new trees - two field maples and a cherry hornbeam - on Kingsmead Recreation Ground on March 11 as part of the Queen's Green Canopy initiative.
Cllrs Nathan Thomas and Lesley Clarke OBE both came along to the special event to help out.
The children were tasked with digging some deep holes for the new trees under the guidance of Dan from the Chiltern Rangers, while others also helped with litter picking.
Some other trees that were planted a couple of years ago that were in poor health were also cut down and the roots dug out by the children.
The Chiltern Rangers have agreed to maintain the new trees until they can thrive on their own.
Cllr Baughan said she was "so impressed" with how polite and well-behaved the children were.
She said: "They are a credit to the school. The Year 6 students were so enthusiastic and were obviously keen to preserve their local area. Loudwater Combined School have been amazing to work with."
Sadly, their plans for the afternoon were rained off, so instead Dan gave a talk about his job and the work of the Chiltern Rangers.
