The men who killed a High Wycombe grandfather and kicked his lifeless body before running from the scene will have to wait to be sentenced after time ran out at today’s hearing.

Asher Anderson, 35, of Walton Gardens, Wembley, and James Scott, 32, of Hawthorne Road, High Wycombe, were due to be sentenced on Friday 25 February after they pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the death of 55-year-old Andrew Ballantyne on July 31, 2021.

The two men admitted to causing Mr Ballantyne’s death during a violent attack which took place at the Jet petrol station in Micklefield Road.

Daniel Ramsey, 25, of Micklefield Road, High Wycombe, Ramah Lampkin, 24, of Rowan Avenue, High Wycombe and Nickolas Williams, 25, of Gibbs Close, High Wycombe were also involved in attacking Mr Ballantyne, and pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

All five were expected to be sentenced today. However, after a lengthy, day-long hearing, Judge Amjad Nawaz decided to postpone until Monday morning to give him enough time to consider the sentences.

All five men were related to Mr Ballantyne either through distant family or old family friendships. Mr Ballantyne was the uncle of Daniel Ramsey.

Anderson had also pleaded guilty to common assault and Williams admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to a separate attack on a different victim at the Dolphin Pub

Judge Nawaz said: “I think just to get my remarks in the correct order I would like a bit longer, and wouldn’t like to keep you this late on a Friday.”

All five defendants have been remanded in custody and are due to appear again at Reading Crown Court for sentence on Monday 28 February.
