A High Wycombe gym is helping get an ex councillor and town mayor in shape for his birthday - as he plans to cycle 50k to raise cash for those in need of food.
On February 24, to celebrate his 50th birthday, Khalil Ahmed will be attempting to cycle 50k for the Wycombe Food Hub, an organisation he helped set up to feed hungry and vulnerable residents.
The food hub, now based in the Chilterns Shopping Centre, was launched in June 2020 to help those in need who fall outside the catchment of the traditional established food banks.

They take leftover food from supermarkets, including fresh and bakery items, that would otherwise go to landfill and bag them up for people who need them.
Khalil is being helped by The Gym Group in Castle Street, who will be setting up an exercise bike in the front window of the food hub for his virtual cycle ride.
Anyone can go down from 11am and see Khalil in action as he attempts to get to 50k.
He has so far managed to raise £440, but hopes to get to at least £1,000. All proceeds will go towards the food hub and helping those in poverty.
