BUCKS recyclers' efforts will be made a little easier with the introduction of a text message service to help people find their nearest recycling site.
The service, run by recycling company Valpak, will identify the nearest centre if the user texts "waste" or "elec" and their postcode to 60060.
Bucks County Councillor Martin Tett, chairman for the Joint Waste Committee said: "The text service allows people to recycle materials on the move.
"It's a quick and easy way to locate you're nearest recycling site. It also gives those without Internet access a convenient way to find recycling facilities."
The service costs 50p as well as the standard charge from the network.
This goes towards running the service. Any profit made would be used to further publicise the facility.
Samantha Blades, manager of Recycle More, the section of Valpak that deals with the public, said: "If lots of people use the text service then we would lower the cost.
"What we're trying to do is reach people who may not have access to the internet, not make money.
"We just want to spread the information as widely as possible."
People can also find their nearest recycling site by visiting www.recycle-more.co.uk where they can search by postcode.
