The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice in High Wycombe for tonight.

The national weather forecaster has said that we should expect icy surfaces from Friday evening and overnight as it published its warning on Friday afternoon.

The yellow warning is expected to last from 3.30 pm on Friday until 23.59 tonight.

We should expect wintry showers in the North with rain, sleet and hill snow further South which means that surfaces will be cold and wet by the early evening.

Evening commuters should be aware that there may be clear spells for a time that will allow the ice to form.

However, temperatures are expected to rise again at midnight.

What to expect from the yellow ice warning

The Met Office has told us to expect the following:

  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
  • Some roads and railways may be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
