It wasn't the best of days for Charlton Athletic on January 1.
They lost 1-0 at home to Wycombe Wanderers thanks to a Sam Vokes goal, the Addicks squandered many chances to get back on level terms, Jonathan Leko hit the post from point-blank range, and the defeat was Charlton's first at home to the Chairboys in a league fixture.
However, the club’s official admin on Twitter had an unfortunate moment when describing a Garath McCleary effort, which has since gone viral across many football forums.
McCleary, who actually set up Vokes’ strike, saw a deflected shot go just wide of the Charlton goal early in the second half.
However, the Athletic admin misspelled the word ‘shot’, by accidentally replacing the o with another vowel to turn the word into something else.
I think you know what word I’m referring to, and it’s not the word ‘shut.'

Those who poked fun at the tweet included McCleary, and former England striker Gary Lineker.
The Match of the Day presenter, who gained notoriety at the 1990 World Cup for an on field incident that wasn’t related to football simply said: ‘Brings back memories.’
