It has been quite a year for crime in Buckinghamshire, with murderers, rapists, paedophiles and other nasty characters thrown behind bars.
Of all the criminals who have appeared in our pages over the past 12 months, these are the most monstrous, evil and despicable among them.
See below for a list of the worst criminala locked up in Bucks for each month of 2021, as well as some “dishonourable” mentions who stood out for their shocking and heinous actions.
January:
Clayton Barker – murder
The killer of 17-year-olds Dom Ansah and Ben Gillam-Rice was jailed for life with a minimum term of 28 years at the start of the year.
20-year-old Barker was one of five people who were jailed for the teenagers’ murders. Charlie Chandler, 23, received life with a minimum term of 27 years, Earl Bevans, 23, was given life with a minimum term of 27 years, Jamie Chandler, 17, got life with a minimum term of 22 years and Ben Potter, 17, got life with a minimum term of 22 years.
The two victims were attending a birthday party in Emerson Valley when they were fatally wounded in a premeditated and calculated attack in October 2019.
The offenders drove several miles across Milton Keynes armed with weapons and wearing face coverings, brutally attacking and killing their targets.
Dishonourable mention: Craig Hughes
February:
Pawel Relowicz – murder
Pawel Relowicz, who raped and murdered Hull University student Libby Squire, from High Wycombe, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years.
Married father-of-two Relowicz dumped Ms Squire’s body in the River Hull after raping her on a playing field in the early hours of February 1, 2019.

The bacon factory worker from Poland picked up the 21-year-old as she wandered around the Beverley Road area of Hull in a confused, upset and drunken state on a freezing night.
Sentencing Relowicz at Sheffield Crown Court, Mrs Justice Lambert said: “From the moment you intercepted her…Liberty Squire did not stand a chance”.

March:
Kandice Barber – paedophile
A married teacher who groomed and had sex with a 15-year-old student in a field was jailed for six years and two months
Kandice Barber, from Wendover, was tried for a second time over allegations that she had sex with the pupil while she was working as a school cover supervisor.

The 35-year-old had sent topless pictures of herself to the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, as well as a “live video” of her masturbating, and was found guilty of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Her victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said he faced stress and anxiety as a result of her behaviour and the two resulting trials.
Dishonourable mention: Sohan Basu
April:
Omar Zaheer – machete attack
Police were called by horrified neighbours as Zaheer slashed his victim, who was also armed, before driving away. The incident was captured on CCTV.
Zaheer, 21, previously of Bushey Close in High Wycombe, brandished a machete on Chairborough Road, where he stabbed Imran Ahmed multiple times on June 16 last year.

He was convicted, following a trial, of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon, which he had denied.
At the trial, Richard Potts, prosecuting, said: “The defendant had a weapon in his hand, which was a machete and he lunged towards Mr Ahmed and struck in the left side of his body a number of times, causing two large wounds - one to the shoulder and one to the arm."

May:
Mohammed Asif – arson
This 52-year-old heroin addict set fire to his home while he and his family were inside.
On the day of the fire, Mohammed Asif, aged 52, of Spearing Road in High Wycombe, was said to be acting “aggressively” towards his son, who he had accused of taking his money. Following the confrontation, Asif went up to his bedroom, while the rest of the family remained in the living room.

The court heard how some time later, the family noticed a burning smell in the house. Rushing up to the bedroom, they found a small fire had been set in the bottom of a wardrobe, made out of a pile of clothes.
Asif was still in the room and appeared to be asleep on the bed.
At Amersham Law Courts he was sentenced to 21 months behind bars.

June:
Anwar Adam - rape
This violent rapist who strangled and sexually assaulted his victim in an Aylesbury car park could be deported after he has served his prison sentence in the UK.
Adam, 20, of Coventon Road in Aylesbury, was jailed for eight-and-a-half years at Aylesbury Crown Court after he was found guilty of rape.

Adam, who came to the UK as an asylum seeker from Sudan when he was 16 years old, was found to have raped a woman in her forties in March 2020 in the bus station car park in Friars Square.
The court heard how before the incident, which took place between 4am and 5am, Adam was cycling through the car park when he saw the woman.
He went away to “stash” his bike, before returning and sexually assaulting her.

July:
Marc Kenney – paedophilie
Paedo football coach Marc Kenny kept nearly 500 sexual images of young children and told police that he was sexually attracted to girls as young as eight years old.
After pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child, Kenny told police about the vast quantities of disturbing material he had on his computer, including a 16-second video showing a baby that was less than one year old being sexually abused.

Kenny was also caught by police sharing a sexual image of an 11-year-old girl on group chats where members would fantasise about sexually abusing children. This image was sent to more than 400 users.
The paedophile was sentenced to two years and one month in prison, and will be on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

August:
Lakshmam Samarakoon – grievous bodily harm
This jealous student who “mowed down” his girlfriend and left her with life-changing injuries has was jailed for 11 years and eight months.
Samarakoon, aged 20, ran over his partner outside a house party in Amersham during a fit of jealous rage, breaking multiple bones in her left leg and injuring her so severely that doctors considered amputation.

CCTV footage showed that following an argument outside the house, Samarakoon reversed his car, forcing his girlfriend to jump out of the way.
She could then be seen running away up onto the pavement. After reversing, Samarakoon turned the car in her direction, drove up onto the pavement and hit her, leaving his victim lying on the ground.
Dishonourable mention: Anthony Bignall
September:
Jameel Khan – drug courier
Khan was a trusted drug and cash courier for a large scale drug gang operating across Buckinghamshire.
Detectives proved he had transported goods on 16 separate occasions, often returning with bags of cash in excess of £70,000 to hand directly to the organised crime group‘s leadership.

Jailed for 10 years at St Albans Crown Court, 27-year-old Khan was sentenced alongside Ali Zarei, 27, and Sarfraz Asif, 40, who also worked as drug couriers for the OCG.
Detective Inspector Ian Mawdesley said: “These men played significant roles in distributing cash and cocaine across the country. Put simply, the criminal enterprise wouldn’t have worked without them.”
Dishonourable mention: Michael Robinson
October:
Mohammed Asif – drug dealer
Mohammed Asif, aged 22, of Sheraton Drive, was sentenced to four years and 10 months in prison after he was caught with nearly £100,000-worth of drugs.
The dealer was found to have had a “significant” role in drugs operations in the area after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and cannabis.

Asif stashed his drugs in a Maidenhead flat which belonged to a vulnerable person, and he escaped police by jumping out of a window when they raided the property.
Some time later he was arrested at Heathrow Airport attempting to flee to Turkey with a one-way ticket.
Dishonourable mention: Danyal Hussein
November:
Callum Leslie – rape
The man who raped a woman in her own home and covered her face with a pillow to mask her screams was jailed for five years and ten months in November.
Callum Leslie, 28, of Prebnedal Avenue in Aylesbury, sexually assaulted his victim after meeting her at the Mirage nightclub in the town centre.

During what was at first a consensual sexual encounter, Leslie started to inflict pain on his victim, and when she told him to stop he refused. As he began hurting her more, she started screaming, and Aylesbury Crown Court heard how he covered her face with a pillow to drown out the noise.
A jury found Leslie guilty of rape, and he had also pleaded guilty to several charges of possessing indecent images of children after police found thousands of sexual pictures on his phone and computer.
Sentencing, Judge Geoffrey Payne said: “She was entitled to expect that you would stop when she asked you to stop, but you carried on regardless and covered up her face when she called for help.”
Dishonourable mention: Brandon Broomhead-Fox
December:
Jerome Dublin – stabbing
This drug dealer stabbed a man three times in North Drive, Holtspur, in a drug deal that went horribly wrong after the victim accused him of short-changing him in a cocaine deal a few weeks earlier.
Jerome Dublin, 25, of Carrington Road in High Wycombe, was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following a trial at Amersham Law Courts, and was sentenced to four years and four months behind bars.

Dublin attacked his victim, Amos Bacchus, in the middle of the night just outside the victim’s home.
Mr Bacchus chased after Dublin following the attack, throwing a brick at his getaway car and smashing the window, but he needed hospital treatment following his injuries.
