Steve Baker wrapped Christmas presents for struggling families while on a visit to John Lewis in High Wycombe.

The John Lewis Partnership have launched a new initiative that will help bring some magic to families who have had a tough time - by providing them with everything they need, from decorations, to gifts and food.

The team are working with High Wycombe Home-Start to offer support to families identified as struggling.

Steve Baker, MP for Wycombe, recently visited John Lewis in High Wycombe to learn more about the initiative and help wrap presents for local families.

Coordinated by local John Lewis and Waitrose Partners who act as community liaison ambassadors, the team is working with each local family to compile their Christmas wish lists and provide them with what they need to be able to celebrate Christmas in a way that might not previously have been possible.

Mr Baker said: "The generous support and contribution provided by Home-Start and the John Lewis Partnership will make a heart-warming difference to families this Christmas.

"This is such a wonderful project and will bring a lot of happiness. Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved.”

Vivien Waterfield, Deputy CEO of Home-Start UK, added: “For some families Christmas can be an especially difficult time of year. With the rise in heating and living costs, many are facing tough choices between food and fuel.

"This can feel especially difficult during the festive season, when parents naturally want their children to experience a little Christmas magic.

"Thanks to John Lewis, I’m delighted over 160 families will get to experience some Christmas magic this year and make special memories together.”
