Fortunately, the bollard did what it was supposed to do and prevented the car from careering into the walkway where there could have been shoppers walking - but it did mean the car was left balancing with its back wheels off the ground.
The car, which was also left with a damaged front end, was taped off until recovery could be arranged, and the vehicle was finally taken away on Sunday evening - only after dozens of bemused shoppers stopped to take a few snaps.
