More than 40 vehicles were clamped or towed away in High Wycombe yesterday as part of a police operation to get untaxed cars off the road.
Thames Valley Police officers joined forces with the DVLA on Tuesday as they patrolled High Wycombe, and in particular the Castlefield area.
Whilst on patrol, officers were on the lookout for untaxed vehicles, and found plenty.

In the course of the day’s operation, the officers clamped 29 untaxed vehicles and towed away another 14, ensuring that the area’s untaxed drivers will not be able to get back on the roads before they have paid what they owe – on top of a hefty fine.
It is illegal to drive on public roads in the UK without paying road tax – with only a couple of exceptions, including if you are driving to a pre-booked MOT test, or if your vehicle is fully electric.
Even if your car is simply parked on the road, if it is not taxed, you are breaking the law.

The DVLA runs monthly computer checks on all registered vehicles in the UK, meaning it is virtually impossible to get away without paying road tax. For your first offence, you will be sent an £80 fine in the post, but if you avoid paying it you could be taken to court and made to pay up to £1,000 in fines.
The DVLA is also able to clamp untaxed vehicles - as many High Wycombe drivers will have found out today.
On social media, TVP Wycombe said: “A very successful day out with the DVLA today.
“We removed 14 vehicles from the road and clamped a further 29 untaxed vehicles.
“Road tax is cheaper than the fine.”
