Plans to demolish some old garages in High Wycombe for family homes have been refused.
Bucks Council rejected a planning application submitted by Red Kite Community Housing that would have seen some unused garages behind houses 5 to 21 Quebec Road bulldozed in favour of six new homes.
The housing association initially wanted to build seven new houses but reduced it to six after planning officers said it could be overdevelopment, reports indicate.

The homes would have been just metres away from the park near The Roperies and the access, off Quebec Road, would have been retained.
There were also plans for 13 parking spaces, and private gardens for the new houses.

Residents had raised some concern about an increase in traffic.
The council said the scheme failed on biodiversity.
“In the opinion of the Local Planning Authority, the development has failed to adequately demonstrate that there will be a measurable net gain in biodiversity on site,” the council wrote.
