An Indian restaurant in the north of the county are doing their bit to try and save a 60-year-old Christmas tradition.

Moza Indian Restaurant in Newport Pagnell will be hoping to raise around £2,500 to save the town’s Christmas Lights Switch On – an annual event that has taken place in the area since the festive season of 1960.

However, due to the ongoing pandemic, funding for this year’s lights have been scarce, and there are worries that the yearly ritual may not take place in 2021.

The lights are put up by volunteers.

A spokesperson from the restaurant said: “Thank you everyone for showing the Christmas spirit in numbers to help raise this money towards a worthy cause.

“We feel part of the fabric of the town having been here for almost 15 years & we absolutely love it here.
