Thousands of runners clad in red robes and white beards took to the streets in Marlow today to take part in the annual Santa's Fun Run.
After last year's 5k became 'virtual' due to the coronavirus restrictions, the mood was high as the runners got together once again to share in the Christmas spririt and raise money for noble causes.
Organised for the 17th year by the Rotary Clubs of Marlow, this year's run aimed to raise £60,000 for good causes. The lead charities this year were Young Minds and Thames Valley Air Ambulance, although many participants also raised funds for causes close to thier own hearts.
The runners picked up thier costumes early in the morning before warming up with Naomi Richards and Marlow FM on the start line.
There was then a cheerleader display before the starting pistol was fired at 9.30am.
Ahead of the event, John Prout, chairman of Santas Fun Run 2021, said: "A great many people and organisations enable the fun run to take place. The people are all volunteers - far too many to mention, but you know who you are.
"Planning starts in MArch with a committee of rotarians planning for the next event, sourcing and purchasing suits and medals, obtaining all the on the ground paraphernalia, seeking permissions, licences, sponsors, marshals and helpers. A big thank you to the many people and organisations who make the run possible.
"Without you, the runners and your supporters, it would all be a pointless exercise, so a uge thank you for entering."
