The opening of Amersham's £36 million Chilterns Lifestyle Centre is set to be next week following delays with construction.
The highly-waited official unveiling that was due to open on November 15 will now be next Monday, December 6 at 3pm.
The ceremony was previously postponed after issues in the final stages of testing by the contractors building the centre.
The contractors said the building hadn't met all of the requirements meaning it was unable to open.
However, those standards have now been met and Cllr Clive Harriss has labelled the opening as a "momentous day".
The cabinet member for culture and leisure said: “I know that lots of people have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the Chilterns Lifestyle Centre and I want to thank them for their patience during the building works.
“Throwing open our doors to residents and visitors is going to be a momentous day and I can’t wait to see the new centre come to life with people enjoying the hugely impressive range of activities on offer.
"This is a fabulous asset for Amersham and the surrounding communities.
"It has first-class leisure and wellbeing facilities and will also serve as an important community and social hub."
The new facility will feature a modern leisure centre which has a large gym, an eight-lane 25-metre pool with viewing and a diving pool alongside a kids’ ‘splash pad area’.
There will also be a four-badminton court sports hall, squash courts, exercise studios, spa and a new climbing wall along with a café, nursery, and a new, fully accessible library.
Bucks council said it will take 1,513,000 litres of water to fill both the swimming pool and dive pool.
Award winning leisure operator, Everyone Active, will be hosting a fun-filled open day in the new year.
Residents and visitors will be invited to come along and see the range of facilities on offer, with the opportunity to try a variety of taster sessions and activities, such as gym challenges and exercise classes.
Steve Salwa, Contract Manager at Everyone Active said: “We are delighted to officially announce the launch of our brand-new leisure centre at Chilterns Lifestyle Centre.
"To manage such an impressive facility is a huge honour and a very positive milestone for Everyone Active in the area.
"We’re looking forward to the benefits that will come from sharing the building with the Amersham Community Association, Amersham Library and Lindfield Pre-School Nursery.
“We cannot wait to open our doors and start welcoming everyone in soon.
"The new gym will boast a fantastic range of facilities - there really is something for everyone and we believe it will be hugely beneficial for the health and wellbeing of the local community.”
