A care home in Gerrards Cross received a special gift as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year.
Swarthmore Residential Care Home on Marsham Lane were given a Jubilee Tree from Buckinghamshire Council who are supporting the Queens Green Canopy (QGC).
The ‘sweet chestnut’ tree was planted on their premises on the morning of November 23, which saw one of the home’s residents, Kitty, who is 107-years-old, watch the ceremony take place.
A spokesperson from the care home said: “Our residents often enjoy looking outside their windows in the winter months or sitting out on the patio during the warmer months where they will be able to admire a new addition to the garden as the Sweet Chestnut flourishes over the coming years.
“Great consideration has been put into this project, so each sapling has more chance to thrive.
“The Climate Response team have been able to match the soil type by grid reference depending on location.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity of being involved in such an important project which is all part of climate response to help sustainability in the world, as we all know trees play a big part here.”
