Overhaul plans for a ‘derelict’ garden centre have been withdrawn – but a new scheme is on the way.
The West Wycombe Estate confirmed fresh plans are coming for the former Plant and Harvest Garden Centre on Chorley Road, after retracting an earlier application last week.
“We are currently revising our plans and intend on re-applying for planning permission in the near future,” a spokesman said.

Initial plans submitted in January 2020 included the ‘demolition or relocation of existing structures on the site’, alteration of the existing cottage, a new extension to provide a replacement dining area and toilets, and the construction of three new greenhouses.

Additionally, plans included the construction of an education centre, a new opening in the boundary wall as well as raising the wall’s east end, and finials were to be added to the gate piers.
Further, a gardeners’ shed was to be converted to toilets, and a damaged section of wall was to be rebuilt.
Supporter Nick Osborne asked of the original plans: “Would there be any way to incorporate a section of buildings for local crafters to hire and sell their goods?
“I know of many local crafters who find it challenging to sell what they have made as websites do not convey the skill and the depth of knowledge that the crafter has, to create their products, and are forced to do infrequent and often disappointing craft fairs.”
West Wycombe Garden Centre shut its doors in 2014. Plans suggest three previous owners were unable to establish a “viable” business there for various reasons.
“I write formally to acknowledge this application has been withdrawn,” the council wrote online. “No further action will be taken, and no formal decision will be made on it by the authority.”
