Students at Wycombe High School have written poems as they aim to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.
Pupils penned their creative thoughts to show support to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the First World War, which officially ended on November 11.
One of the students, Zahraa, who is in year 8, wrote the following:
Poppies grow on the battlefield for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom we now yield
Through the assistance of those survived, the opposition has now been defeated for the people’s future and wellbeing, for the support that we needed, for England to continue having faith and believing
On 11 November, for our silence we show our respect, for those we remember, for their lives the country they did protect
Poppies grow on the battlefield for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom we now yield
Through the assistance of those survived
The poem, which was uploaded onto YouTube, has been watched a number of times, with the school hoping to raise £650 for the RBL by November 14, which is Remembrance Sunday.
So far, £60 has been raised.
