We spoke to Mr Tang, the headteacher at West Wycombe School, to see what's going on.

It is such an exciting time at West Wycombe School!

We are working hard to ensure every day and week is something new, enriching and innovative for children to get stuck into.

Our new Themed Weeks have been a huge success; we’ve had Coding Week, Show and Tell Week, Poetry Week, African Drumming Week and even Superhero Week!

Each themed week consists of special assemblies, lessons, competitions and sometimes, fancy dress!

It was a truly epic Superhero Week, full of activities and special events - I need to say a huge THANK YOU to the staff for preparing such an engaging and exciting Superhero Day for the children.

The energy walking around school on Superhero Day was overwhelming- everyone was buzzing for the day, loving each other's costumes and just enjoying the silliness of doing Maths dressed as Spider-Man. It was a testament to the children's behaviour that we could have such a crazy day but maintain great behaviour and good quality teaching and learning.

We hope that this day, amongst others this half term so far, have made long lasting memories for the children.

One of the Year 5 children said it was the Superhero Day was the best day they'd ever had at school- this filled us with joy. (I must admit I miss doing emails dressed as Batman).

This week has been UK Parliament Week- we’ve been discussing politics, democracy and British Values.

On Tuesday, November 2, we even welcomed a special guest…the Mayor of High Wycombe!

The Mayor, Andrea Baughan, gave an inspirational and informational presentation on what it means to be Mayor.

The school were totally engrossed throughout and found it fascinating.

Questions from the children ranged from ‘What are the different pressures involved with being Mayor?’, to ‘What are you doing about Climate Change?’.

‘What did you have for breakfast?’ was a surprise but the Mayor handled it perfectly!

We are so grateful for the visit!

Our next special guest our MP for High Wycombe, Steve Baker, on Wednesday, November 10 - we can’t wait.

Mr St Croix and I are currently growing moustaches to raise money for Movember and raise awareness of men’s health. I don’t think the children have noticed yet!

Our next Open Morning for Prospective Parents is on Thursday 25th November at 9.30 am- we’d love to see you there!

Just email me on safeguarding@wwglt.co.uk to book a place.
