John Hampden Grammar School welcomed former Arsenal co-owner and vice-chairman David Dein, and current VC of West Ham United, Baroness Karren Brady CBE, to officially open the Innovation Hub on Friday October 15th.
Greeted by Alumnus Mark Phillips QC, the guests toured the Innovation Hub which provides 15 up to date classrooms and computer suites for Maths, Economics, Business and Psychology.
Alongside the Innovation Hub, students can now enjoy the newly created Compass Quad which provides them with a great place to eat, socialise and work.
Speaking after the opening ceremony, headteacher, Miss Hartley, explained that ‘ the subjects taught in it will play a key part in the future of the British economy and that the boys should always think of innovative solutions to today's challenges.’
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, Mr Dein gave a presentation to the students about the evolution of the Premier League as a business.
He and Baroness Brady took part in a Q+A session with students, many of whom aspire to be the entrepreneurs of the future.
